The sport of surfing involves a surfboard (usually
a polyurethane foam core with a fiberglass shell),
and you on that board paddling into the surf,
looking to catch a wave on its way to the shore.

of life participate in this sport simply for
the sense of freedom and fun that it offers.
The only actual requirements needed to learn
how to surf is to swim well and be physically
fit, because you put yourself at risk without
possessing these two basic abilities. A number

surfing does have a list of risks involved.
Any beach that has waves over 3 feet can be
a good place to learn how to surf, and some
beaches like those on the west coast, are optimal
for surfing all year long. It is reasonably

up cost includes only the purchase of a surfboard.
Popular surfing beaches typically offer surfboard
and wetsuit rentals, if that's the route you
wish to go.
The basics of surfing are easy to understand,
but it takes practice and time to implement
them. It's quite possible to teach yourself
to surf and you can learn a lot by observing
and talking to other surfers, many of whom welcome
the opportunity to share techniques and tips
with newcomers. With that said, professional
instruction is still the quickest and safest
way to begin learning how to surf.
Within a day or so of starting, you'll likely
be able to stand on your surfboard and ride
little waves. Not only will you want to be learning
how to surf, the knowledge of how waves work
along with the ocean's currents is vital. He
or she will also teach when you should go out
in the water, what type of wave is the best
to catch and when you should just sit on the
shoreline and watch those waves come in.
